CD Projekt RED has published the first trailer for its new game – Cyberpunk 2077. The game is based on the classic role-playing setting of the same name – Cyberpunk 2020, created by Mike Pondsmith, who is also directly involved in the development of the game.

In the first teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, at one point several paragraphs of text were displayed in red on a black screen. Below you will find a translation of this not-so-hidden message from the developers at CD Projekt Red:

Firstly, did you notice all the details in our teaser (yes, this is a teaser, we will make a full trailer in the future)? If you know the Cyberpunk setting then you should have noticed a few things like the implants – look at the gun hands and the real skin – the corporate logos should be familiar, happy hunting!
You are also most likely interested in the release date. It’s currently scheduled for 2015, but realistically the game will be released “when it’s ready”. We’ll release Cyberpunk when we’re convinced it’s pure, polished coolness. We want this to be the best ass-kicking futuristic RPG of all time – ok, maybe that sounds too bold, but that’s our real goal! You’re the one to judge!
Ok – and you’re probably wondering why we announced our game so early. The reason is that we are still building a development team. So, you want to know more about what Cyberpunk 2077 will be behind the game? In short, it’s an open-world RPG with a strong emphasis on non-linear storytelling based on the well-known board game system and Cyverpunk setting. Creating open world games is something we excel at and we believe that combining non-linear gameplay with a great story will take a project to new heights of quality. Hmm. We’ll tell you more about this soon!
But this is not the only new project. Very soon we will show another new project, which is much closer to completion. And yes, this will be another game with an open world and an interesting story. Most likely you can guess what we mean 😉 More about this February 5.
